 Why?
Which couple got the hottest scenes in our shows, even when they fully
dressed? C’mon you know the answer! Anna chose the perfect song for the
two and made an marvellous video. Sinister than black velvet and it
includes every part of their relationship, the distrust, the heat, the
hate, the love and of course the sex. But that’s not why the video is so
hot, it’s all a part of it and yet there’s something else, that lies
beneath the surface and you just can’t put your finger on it. |

 Why:
Okay, normally we don’t start a review with an extraction from the lyrics,
but what can possibly more fit the Angel/Wes-ship as “Cos I don’t want you
to forgive me, you’ll follow me down”? Not only in season three and four,
but from the start in the Bronze a long time ago? Nothing is what the
judges thought, so Anna chose the perfect song and made a chilling and
haunting video.
The flashbacks to a time, which wasn’t any easier but didn’t have so a bad
aftertaste like the connornapping were a well-built remainder that both
men have a long history of betraying and still following one another down
till the ninth circle of hell. So the emotional impact of this video,
doesn’t make you feel better, in fact after watching “Knights” a few time
in a row you see a big depression coming, but that only make it simpler
for the judges, our Best Video Angel is “Knights”. |

 Why:
If you do a video for Holtz and Justine, you are threaten by several big
problems. Let’s count them down, shall we? First you’re pretty quickly run
out of material, cos there are not that much scenes that these two shared.
Second get your grip around the twisted, dark and unnerving relationship
that both shared. Third don’t be frightened by the creepy feeling you’ve
get, every time you see these two interact. Fourth stop thinking about all
the healthy relationships you ever heard of. Fifth bury your hate deep
down and try to be constructive, but not too constructive, cos your
friends might be scared of you, when they see the result. Sixth forget all
about love and moral and concentrate on vengeance and all the giant
possibilities it has like immense emotions, punishment, hate,
self-destruction and lies. You solved all these problems in one perfect
video? Then you must be Anna and blow the judges immediately away with
your result! Yeah, we hate them still, but we understand them now! Kind
of! An emotional hell ride you have to see…

 Why:
This is the second Spred-Vid, that works for me on every level and the
best so far and I believe, that it takes time to beat it from my first
place, cause it beats also back several other pairings, who I adore.
First of all, amazing editing, the cuts are unbelievable fast and
accurate, not one frame that is not in the right place and a lot of vidder
can learn something in this precise piece of handiwork! Second tight
plotline, did you recognize the Fred/Angel-Kiss and how it's timed? Not
that hard to imagine it happening in Angels office and the blow it would
have on Spike. Third the effects are used good positioned and in
combination to highlight the emotional impact of the visual. Fourth and a
premiere for me, I normally didn't like the fading to black effect, but
the segment starting at 3:07 Minutes is tidying and strict, just one more
reason to love this video.
There are so much elements in this extraordinary and breath catching vid
to love and respect as a vidder that I better finish now, before you get
me really started. Go and learn, I surely did. It was Italian? So I let my
boyfriend translate: Uno dei migliori Angel Clip che o visto fino adesso,
non posso aspettare di vedere altro del tuo lavoro, Maria! That's
understandable?

 Why:
Second ship laden PoV, this time for Lilah and her relationship with
Wesley and "Feel" from Anna made you feel deep down and hard for Lilah.
One of the things, that captivated us first in her character is that at
the start she often looked startled by herself, if she's a bit afraid of
the things she's capital of doing in spite saving herself and climbing the
career ladder at Wolfram & Hart with ease. That jumpiness she possessed at
the beginning faded away, last really pure saw where this vid started, the
moment Lindsey left. Then her cat smile took almost permanent place, Lilah
learned her worth accurately and her weapons to use brilliantly, when you
saw her with Angelus in the fourth season you just know, she went a long
way from the frighten kitten to cat woman (Okay, no Batman parallels here
;) )
So why this long detour and not straight forward to the vid? Because one
of the things she perfected and then lost with Wesley was her cat smile,
you see it fade so often in this video and the question becomes important,
if she had the feeling, that she's lying to him from the start, then what
is she untruthful about? Because there really wasn't that much truth she
could disguise, the fronts were clear between them, since the beginning,
sleeping with the enemy and someone that could not simply break under a
bit of pressure. In the end she could give lies easily to everybody except
him, she could annoy the hell out of everybody, but had problems looking
him straight in the eyes. Sure she played her part, but Annas "Feel" let
you uncover her inner doubts and weaknesses, explicitly her feelings for
Wesley and that too since the start Lilah loses control in the game she
played, unable to see, that Wes also had differences to keep it simple!

 Why:
We got a Spanya-Sucker in our lines as well, not me and so I'm not an huge
fan of this pairing, but I find it completely understandable and Anna made
her point for everybody plain to see. Hello, Spike had to move on with his
unlife a point Buffy stressed until it hurt even me and her teary eyes
toward the screen? Made up your mind earlier, not every woman had a lover
that let himself used as a punching ball and sex-toy, just because you
think, you can't take this life anymore and still love you with every
fibre and see the glorious lady in you, after you went dirty with him on
the floor of his crypt.
And Xander left Anya on the altar, because of his childish fear to go down
like his parents, to disappoint Anya and not treat her right, something he
did exactly in this moment. Cause taking the exit route in front of all
her friends and relatives two minutes before the wedding is so sensitive
and well deserved? He hadn't the guts to tell her, that the marriage
frighten him in the first place and so he left her behind together with
all his rights to even think about jealousy or let alone, walking around
with an axe to made his point.
So yeah, I find the scene comforting that Spike and Anya shared, the way
it was meant to be. The way two hurting and tortured people or demons in
this case react after they take a blow, that is not easy to recover from.
When you need someone to tell you, that you are indeed beautiful and
deserve respect and gentleness. And I guess, even when I'm not a fan of
Spanya, I get the meaning of Annas video rather good, haven't I? *biggrin*
