I still miss the sun – chapter fifteen -

“Can you feel it?” Spike suddenly asked, stopping Buffy.

None of them knew how long they had been walking. The silence had become unnerving, both of them were on the edge, and the long waiting was putting a stain on them

“Feeling what?” Buffy asked rubbing her eyes with her open palms.

Spike closed his eyes, a tiny smile forming on his lips, “Them, Red and the Watcher…can’t you feel how strong they’re getting?”

Buffy stood next to him; she couldn’t help the smile which crossed her lips. She could almost see Willow’s resolve face and the determination in Giles’ eyes. “They’re on to something…” she whispered.

“We are close…” Spike said in a low voice. Buffy frowned when he morphed in his game face. She realized she hadn’t seen him in his demon face since they had gotten into the tunnels.

She closed her eyes, feeling a strength coming from deep within herself, so powerful it almost choked her.

“I can feel it…” she whispered.

Just as Spike had taught her when they had entered the tunnels, she blocked out her feelings. She let the strength she was feeling filling her, her skin itched with a warmth, a fire like she had never experienced before.

The battle was really beginning.
